In this video, our colleague Professor Gerard Egan, author of 'The Skilled Helper', explains what it means to help someone make progress.
The course is taught in small groups. The emphasis throughout is on practice rather than theory. Teachers start to develop their skills from the very first workshop. They are able to embed and extend their expertise by drawing on a bank of online resources featuring short video lectures, interactive exercises and simulated counselling sessions. Regular reflection groups are also part of the continuing development programme.
The training is available through open courses or as inset training for a single school or cluster of schools. It’s also ideal for multi-agency teams who can learn a common language and a common approach for working with children who access a range of services.
By signing up for the Progress course, you join a community of fellow students and gain access to all the training materials online to review at your convenience.
